The Art Of Religion Book

Religion Vs. Relationship

This is a true story about a 79 year old man’s personal walk with God, written over 8 years, from the aspect of an investigative reporter. A man who spent nearly 50 years of his life both inside and outside of the “corporate church,” freely ministering to hurting people. This book dives into the Biblical history of the personal relationship that God desires to have with mankind. A relationship which many people, unfortunately, keep turning into what Jesus (Yeshua) called the “traditions of man.”

Chapter 9 – My Tenure As A Pastor

In the beginning of the chapter, I quoted a verse from “A Tale of Two Cities.” The book verse well described and set the atmosphere for what life was probably like in the Pre-French Revolution days. The much-quoted verse reads, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” In many ways, I felt like that described what my 6-plus years of Pastoral Ministry felt like to me.

I share some amazing highlights and miracles that took place during those years that changed and enhanced the lives of many different people, including my own. I sincerely thank my God for allowing me the opportunity to enjoy and share these many highlights and miracles.

My life changed dramatically after I stepped down from Pastoral Ministry, when I went through a rough period of personal darkness. I began to wrestle with self-inflicted feelings of blame, torment, failure, and doubt.

Thankfully, I could still feel God’s hand of grace, love and mercy reaching out to me, He never let go! The end result was that God continued to use and bless my ministry endeavors outside of the four walls of the church. My spirit was no longer cast down, and my heart was finally made whole again.

Near the end of the chapter, I share a dream that God had given me. The result of the dream led me to write a letter that helped to refurbish a friendship with one of my best friends. I go on to share some important revelations about friendship with man and God. Thde chapter ends with reinforcing why our friendship with God is the most important relationship that we must invest in.
